Fukui
8hours

Exchange your vows in a Japan that most travelers never see. Fukui is about two hours from Kyoto, yet it stays quiet. A 750-year-old Zen monastery still in daily practice, a feudal lord's garden, one of Japan's oldest surviving castles, and towering sea cliffs are all within a short drive of each other - and on most days, you will have them almost to yourselves. We are Masumi, a family-run kimono house in Fukui, now in our 52nd year and fourth generation. From our salon you will choose from more than 1,000 authentic bridal kimono, including uchikake - the royal-grade robe once worn by noble brides. Our dressers, hair and makeup artists prepare you exactly the way a Japanese bride and groom are prepared. Then we drive you out to the places we grew up with. This is a full day, and it is only yours. No script, no queue, no other couples waiting their turn. Your professional photographer stays with you from the morning through the softest light of the afternoon, and you will receive at least 100 edited photographs. You do not need to speak Japanese. We use translation apps, and we are used to it. Please note: this is a symbolic ceremony and photo experience, not a legal marriage registration.
