Gokayama area with prayer-hands style houses - World cultural heritage site -

Toyama
4hours
The name of the world heritage site by UNESCO is "Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go and Gokayama". Shirakawa-go is a really popular place for tourists, but it is crowded. Gokayama is located at the mountain area next to Shirakawa-go, which is less tourists than Shirakawa-go.
You can appreciate the traditional landscape in the village. There are about 20 prayer-hands style houses which are thatched. It is not easy for tourists to go there by themselves, so I have planned to go there with a guide by car.

Highlights

- The Japanese original landscape with the prayer-hands style houses
- Communicating with the locals who lives in the village
- Entering a traditional architecture
- Making Japanese Washi paper by yourself
